A Brief History
Upstate Healthcare Coalition
South Carolina developed regional planning groups after 9/11; formerly, the Upstate was represented by regions known as Region 1 and Region 2. The state was subdivided into eight autonomous public health response planning regions. In 2013, state planners shifted and consolidated regional boundaries and fused Regions 1 & 2 to form the Upstate Healthcare Coalition.
The Upstate Healthcare Coalition has matured into a highly functioning healthcare and first response adjunct to support the local and regional healthcare delivery system.
